What people think about Fitter Happier:

  • There was a very low point in my life where I used to just listen to this song and watch the "Fight Club" most of the time. The two go together well somehow.
  • I try to avoid the fact of how true and astute this is by pretending it's just Thom being all wanky and post-modern. But I know the truth.
  • Gut-wrenching, as fingerbib2000 said. The futility of life described by this song is so painfully real, and I take this credo to its converse as the way I want to live my life, free of the prophesized lyrics of this song, but the more I look at the world around me, how all those "ambitious" 'punk' 'rebels' end up as adults, how embarrassingly pathetic it all turns out for so many of them, like "a pig in a cage on antibiotics."
  • Filler. Happier. And more time wasting ololol jokes i liek raydiohed :)
  • A gut wrenching track. the robot warned me 12 years ago but i didn't listen to it. :( For those who think this track is a dud: if you don't like it, you don't like it ,fair enough. But maybe you're too young at the moment...not saying that in a patronising way about your taste in music, but rather, you have yet to become all of what these lyrics prophesize. I think that what makes this such a powerful tune, i laughed at the idea of all these lyrics when i was 16....silly robot voice with a piano, i thought. about 8 years later i was listening to it and it hit me: shit thom, you nailed it, this is what we become in this society. and then there's no escape.... once those lyrics start to mean something to your current situation, coupled with the sample, the piano, and the fucking robot saying them, the track becomes pretty devestating! The most powerful track on the album, maybe not the best tune, but the most powerful track for me.
  • I think a little of the book or philosophical paper "Self Reliance" By Ralph Waldo Emerson. Wonderful recursive argument there, of how people so often think of things before you had the nerve say them, which in itself a clever idea that you should have thought of first, ad infinatum. Anyway, I think that the song voices a lot of what society seems to have become, or at least how it can be interpreted, and the last line summerises wonderfully - "A Pig" because we are consumers "In a cage" Because we can't go anywhere, and "On antibiotics" Because we rely on the system. And this is sad that it is such the case
  • "its amazing what idiots have to say about an interlude. and to the people that this song "made you cry"....get a fucking life. " - seconded.
  • Wow...this is....different. It's just an intermission, but still. Very creative.
  • ...cat thats driven into frozen winter shit
  • Why do people say it's a flawless album with such a dud on it?
